Prudence Ticknor is a registered dietitian specialized in weight loss surgery and bariatric nutrition, neuro-linguistics, and health and wellness coaching. She has more than 15 years’ experience developing bariatric, nutritional and wellness programs for schools, corporations and medical practices. Prudence is committed to leading patients to a holistically healthier and more healing way of life.
Her enthusiasm and empathy comes from her personal struggle with obesity as a child and young adult. Through creating her own motivation to lose weight and the methods she teaches, she has lost over 70lbs.
As a neuroscience devotee, Prudence loves to study how our brains work to better understand the process of behavior change. She is committed to assisting clients find strategies that assist them in living a healthy lifestyle. She works with people to identify what they need in order to make self-empowered changes. She is passionate about working with weight loss surgery clients and assisting them in reaching and maintaining a healthy weight. She reminds clients that weight loss surgery is a tool. The surgery is on their stomach not on their brains. It is important for them to know they are responsible for changing the way they think and view food.
Remarkable things start to happen when Prudence begins asking questions. Participants begin to clearly understand their patterns and see their subconscious minds at work. They are able to grasp more concretely how a thought creates a feeling than in turn generates a behavior. From that awareness, they can replace those thoughts for healthier ones. One testimony to that work is how she recently trained a group of previously morbidly obese to successfully run a half marathon (13 miles). “At first, they didn’t think they could do it in a million years. We started off very basic, one step at a time.” On the corporate level, she helped Harrah’s Entertainment implement health and wellness programs for its vast employee base. In recent years, she worked with healthcare providers and bariatric surgeons to increase the success rates of their programs and services.
Prudence uses a wide variety of tools to connect with her weight loss surgery patients. She blogs and does videos, provides Facebook support groups, along with offering individual coaching sessions and teaching mindfulness and meditations classes.
Prudence is an avid runner and outdoor enthusiast. She also enjoys reading and maintains a daily meditation practice. She resides with her daughter Felise.
