What is Single-Incision Gastric Sleeve Surgery?
Single-Incision Gastric Sleeve Surgery is a different technique than the regular and standard laparoscopic gastric sleeve procedure. Single-Incision, uses one large incision, through the navel, to place all the trocars (laparoscopic instruments), rather than five or six incisions with the traditional laparoscopic surgical technique. Single-Incision provides quicker recovery time and can produce less scarring.
(Update Sept. 23rd 2016) Single-Incision Gastric Sleeve is still a newer surgical method that still needs more time to prove its efficacy, and place in bariatrics. Most surgeons don’t perform Single-Incision, but there are some surgeons in Mexico offering this surgery type, albeit at a higher price.
